Inspired by how the human body adapts to exercise training and intrigued by the mechanisms behind it Stephen completed a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on exercise nutrition and training adaptation.

Stephen has combined his passion for sports science and cycling by developing HPTek - a cycling specific coaching business. With now over 12 years experience as a professional coach Stephen has worked with a variety of successful athletes including multiple UCI World Tour riders, Elite U/23 National champions and podium place getters as well as multiple UCI and Masters Hour Record breaking athletes.

As well as elite athletes Stephen has helped many young riders progress from club racing to National Road Series teams as well as coaching multiple Age Group Masters athletes to State, National and World Championship wins across all disciplines of cycling including road, track, time trial, cyclocross and MTB.

Stephen is now one of the most recognised coaches in Australia and together with his associate coaches is developing HPTek into one of Australia’s biggest cycling specific coaching resources.
